Michael
Kaawa is someone I looked up to as a young man growing
up in the Islands! He is a very close friend even being
apart for so many years.
When I left home 23 years ago, it was at his home in Maunawili
where the decision was made to leave home to better myself
seeking to become a Radiation Protection Technologist.
Mike is one of the Big reasons for connecting with so
many important Hawaiian Musicians.
Patrick
Landeza is the hottest young slack key guitar player
and nephew of the above mentioned, Dennis Kamakahi.
Riatea
Helm. Fegetaboutit! The Hottest Young Female Vocalist
of Hawaii and her music can be heard in the surf shop!
What a talent!
Dennis
is Hawaii's Greatest Composers of ALL time and he is a
friend of Mike Kaawa. Though everyone appears to be special
in their own right he too, deserves special attention.
Keola
Beamer is a master at composition and education! He
is a class act and very well spoken and intelligent. He
has given me time for small conversation in the past and
he is a Master!
Hawaiian
Hits Live!
Mauna
Lua This is a fabulous group with a fantastic new
sound!
Na
Palapalai is off the hook and a great example of awesome
Falsetto music with an upbeat sound to boot. They pulled
of a great performance in March of 2004 at Hunter College
here in the City. Their tunes help me prepare for my morning
Surf Reports as it puts me in a very happy mood! Mahalo
for the autographed CD and we hope that they visit NYC
soon!
Brothers
Cazimero are one of the greatest acts from Hawai'i.
I was fortunate to have witnessed their past performance
at the infamous Carnagie Hall when they were backed by
the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. After this particular
event in a nearby parking garage, a Violin player whom
participated that night, mentioned that they were Awesome!
What a complement since many in the ensemble are professionals
in their own right.
Got a lot of insight from Brother
IZ and he was a "Computer Geek" as we would chat at
IZ Chat on the H-4 Internet Site administered by Rabbett.
What a strong voice and an enchanting sound that many
will enjoy for the days to come.
I presented an IZ
CD to Jeff Booth, former ASP Champion and Executive
at Quiksilver, and he still listens to the great sounds
over two years later. Many of his tunes will set you up
for a great surf session as it will prepare you mentally
allowing great flow and transition! Like many of the links
here, they are available as an awesome tool to improve
upon your surfing!
Aunty
Genoa's music will make you want to get up and dance!
She is an inspiration to many since she is the Queen of
Hawaiian Music! My friend Keith Ah Yuen's grandmother
whom we met after a gig a few years back at Carnagie Hall
in NYC. It was very interesting to hear Aunty Genoa hit
her notes in a hall that includes one of the best acoustic
sound engineering designs in the world!
IZ
Henry
Kapono gave us many BACKSTAGE PASSES for his concerts.
I use to visit Kapono's house with cousin Kevin Hosea.
Cecilio and Kapono were very successful and he was nice
to us when we were in our teens following the music scene.
He was supposed to play professional sports like Mike
Kaawa yet decided to play music and entertain. His brother,
Kala Kaaihue played for the Pittsburgh Pirates! Kapono
means righteous and he was named Henry after my uncle
Henry Hosea.
Donavan
Frankenreiter I'd like to welcome the sounds of Surfer
and Recording Artist Donavan Frankenreiter to our surf
shop thanks to Mr. Robert Morgano of the Universal Music
Group located in NYC.
Donavan charges big surf around the world and his new
CD is a charm. I hear that he's a fellow Hawaiian too!
Welcome brah and good luck on your music artistry that
we support here!

the Hawaiian Culture through their many activities right
here in nearby NYC! They have allowed many to witness

Song and Dance.
I am honored to work with a great group of professionals
such as co-Founders Janu Cassidy and Nalei Akina. Don't
forget to visit their website frequently so that you may
experience Hawaii Cultural events first hand here in New
